Criminal records search can help protect your rights
Criminal records
searches are all perfectly legal if you stay within the realm of
public information, here in the U.S. and in foreign countries from
Antigua to Yugoslavia. So if your new business associate has a
criminal past in, say, Korea or Saudi Arabia, you'll know about it.
If that new daycare center down the street is run by a convicted
felon, you should be able to get all the information you need to
keep your kids safe. And as for the criminals and con artists: they
can run, as the old saying goes, but they can't hide.
As of September 2004--
All 50 States and the District of Columbia had centralized sex
offender registries.
50 States, the District of Columbia, and Guam, Puerto Rico, and U.S.
Virgin Islands were submitting records on sexual offenders to the
National Sex Offender Registry.
California car accident basics
The State of California has financial responsibility/compulsory
limits of 15/30/5. The first two figures refer to bodily injury
liability and the third figure to property damage liability. 15/30/5
means coverage up to $30000 for all persons injured in an accident,
subject to a limit of $15000 for one individual, and $5000 coverage
for property damage.
Low-cost policy limits for Los Angeles and San Francisco low-income
drivers in the California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan are 10/20/3.
This is a pilot program effective from July 1, 2000 until January 1,
2004.
The insurance industry and consumer groups generally recommend a
minimum of $100,000 of bodily injury protection per person and
$300,000 per accident since accidents may cost far more than the
minimum limits mandated by most states.
